Joe Wayne Sherbert, 68, of Ada passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at his home. He was born on December 15, 1952, in Ada, OK to Billy Jo Sherbert and Velma Deene Sherbert. He graduated from Ada High School in 1971.
Joe graduated from East Central University with a Bachelor's in Math and Physics. After graduation he moved to Houston, TX and took a job with Brown & Root as a computer programmer. This job took him all over the world and he loved to tell stories of these travels.
He married the love of his life, Candy Sherbert, on October 1, 1982 and they made their home in Cypress, Texas. In 1995, Joe convinced Candy to become an Okie and they moved the family to Ada. Joe set up his computer consulting and software development business. He was also fortunate enough to be an adjunct professor at ECU and taught Computer Literacy; something he loved doing.
He was active in the Crosspoint Emmaus Community, an active volunteer at the Compassion Outreach and Abba's Tables.
Survivors include his wife Candy, of the home; daughter, Abby Cantrell and husband Jake, Ada; son, Daniel Sherbert, Ardmore; son John David Sherbert and wife Megan, Ada; his brother Robert Sherbert and wife Connie, Cypress, TX; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, David Sherbert and sister-in-law Marsha Sherbert.
But the LOVES of his LIFE…the ones that put the spark in his eyes and the smile on his face were his GRANDS, Tyler Graham Cantrell, Oliver Aaron Cantrell, Bella Naomi Sherbert and Harbor James Sherbert.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20 at Central Church of Christ, Ada, OK. Bud Ross will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassion Outreach via Central Church
