JOE BOB GALE

TULSA-Graveside services for Joe Bob Gale, 93, Tulsa, formerly of the Ada area, are 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Pontotoc Cemetery, Pontotoc, Oklahoma, Rev. Jason Elmore will officiate.

Mr. Gale died on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on October 27, 1914 in Pontotoc, OK. He grew up in Mill Creek and then Ada where he was a member of Boy Scouts and DeMolay and graduated from Horace Mann High School. He attended George Washington University in Washington DC, where he was a member and president of Kappa Sigma fraternity, and earned a BA degree in June 1942. He then entered the Army Air Corps and was an Instructor of Aerial Photography. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to Ada. He was named president of the Ada Jaycees in 1950. Joe Bob and family moved to Tulsa in 1957 where he had a long and successful career in the drilling fluids business. He was a member of the Oaks Country Club for 50 years, served on the Board of Directors of Tulsa Petroleum Club, and belonged to Southern Hills Baptist Church.

Joe Bob is survived by three daughters, Jeannine Hunter and husband Dr. Nick Hunter of Tulsa, Joanie Elmore and husband Rev. Jason Elmore of Bartlesville, and Jill Young and husband Michael Young of Tulsa. He is also survived by the mother of his girls, Jan Gale of Tulsa. Joe Bob was very proud of his grandchildren Dr. Kathy Henry and husband Dr. Blake Henry of Tulsa, Kellie Hunter of Tulsa, Ann-Janette Webster and husband Jay Webster of Bartlesville, Jarrod Elmore and wife Ayngel Elmore of Bartlesville, Ashlee Elmore of Bartlesville, Justin Young and Jessica Young, both of Tulsa. He was a great- grandfather to Haley and Caleb Baker of Tulsa, and Hunter, Carter, Ryan and Brady Henry of Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Edna Gale, one sister Virgie Nolen and three brothers Ewen, Floyd and T.J. Gale. Joe Bob was a garage sale enthusiast, collector of golf clubs, record albums, and an avid OU football fan.
