Joseph Byron Cannon was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma on February 18, 1956, to Lilly Lou and William Anderson Cannon. He passed away on April 14, 2026, at his home on his ranch near Stonewall, Oklahoma at the age of 70. Joe was the middle child of five children. He attended Stonewall High School where he was a standout athlete and where he graduated in 1974.

Joe was a welder by trade in his younger years. He was an exceptional welder, and worked in the ports and gulf near Houston before settling back home near Stonewall. Raising livestock and being a rancher was what he spent the majority of his years doing… and enjoyed doing it.

Joe always considered the ranch where he grew up as home and it’s where he settled down and married Terri Brown of Ada.

Joe enjoyed working cattle with his kids, riding horses with anyone that would join him, and spending time with his grandkids. He also enjoyed the peace and calm of a cup of coffee in the morning while watching the sunrise, and just as much, watching the sun set from the back of a horse.

Joe knew Jesus Christ as his savior, and spoke openly about his faith: the love and grace of God, and the power of prayer. Joe most recently attended First Baptist Church of Fittstown.

He is survived by his wife, Terri Cannon; sons Heath Cannon, and his wife Ashley of Tulsa, Jarred Cannon of Stonewall, daughter Kimberly Cannon of Stonewall; Grandchildren Ethan Cannon of St. Louis, Missouri, Kaden Cannon of Windermere, Florida, Bodi Cannon of Tulsa and Vivian Cannon of Tulsa; and great-granddaughter Wrenley Cannon of Windermere, Florida; Brother Bill Cannon and his wife Liz of Fittstown, and sister Marsha Allmon and her husband Gary of Waukomis, Oklahoma.

Joe is preceded in death by both of his parents and two sisters, Myria Gibson of Lone Grove and Kay Wynn of Ada.

Bearers are David Hall, Toby Wallace, Matt Frye, Cody Frye, William Wynn, Wendell Wynn, Chili Joe Bills and Randle Lefever.
