Services for Jodie Lee Kite George, 100, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Ada, Rev. Linda Snelling will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 7:00p.m. on riday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. George passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at home in Oklahoma City. She was born August 23, 1916 in Kite, Oklahoma to Charles Henderson and Lenora Toncray Carter Kite. She grew up in the towns of Kite and Clarita in Coal County. She attended schools at Clarita and graduated from Clarita High School. She attended East Central College in Ada.
She married William Peyton (Dub) George on September 21, 1935. He preceded her in death December 30, 1993 in Oklahoma City. Mrs. George farmed and ranched alongside her husband and was a bookkeeper for C. M. Mays Lumber Company. She was a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, Tanti Study Club, the Traveler's Tour, Kappa Kappa Iota, and she was an avid OU sports fan.
Survivors include her children, W. Peyton George, Santa Fe, NM, Lee George, Ada, Jan George Womack, Chicago, IL and Jodie George Coulson, Madill; 13 grandchildren, Vicky Carol Mapp, Richard P. George, Thomas H. George II, Mark George, Roxie George Igo, Wendy George Haskins, Heather Doss, Jody Wood, Jud Cook, Julie Womack, Jon Womack, Dan Coulson and Lisa Riggs; 23 great-grandchildren, Stephen Mapp; Victoria and Karina George, James, Joshua and Calum George; Chelsea Griffith; Alex George; Jessica Igo Finck; Austin Clay Igo; Meagan Igo Haymes; Dayton and Cole Haskins; Chaz Cook; Kendyl and Kelsi Doss; Abigail Wood; Gemma Womack, Dara Womack; Case and Cooper Coulson; and Cole and Carter Riggs; seven great-great-grandchidren, Camryn and Tag Griffith; Spencer, Scarlet, Cooper and Syler Igo; and Peyton Finck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Thomas Henderson George in 2004; brothers, Frank, Haskell, and Sam Kite and sister, Willie Simpson.
Bearers will be Richard P. George, Thomas Henderson George II, Chaz Cook, Jon Womack, Dan Coulson, Mike Mapp, Kevin Igo and John Riggs.
