JO ANN GOMEZ

ADA-Services for Jo Ann Gomez, 63, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Salvation Army Church, 115 N. Oak, Captain Mike Lucas will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Salvation Army.

Mrs. Gomez died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at a Shawnee hospital. She was born September 25, 1944 in Ada, Oklahoma to Paul and Dorothy Nell Allen Turner. She was a lifelong resident of this area. She attended Irving elementary school and graduated from Byng High School.

She married Raul Nieto Gomez on May 7, 1969 in Ada, Oklahoma. He died July 8, 1975 in Martinez, California. Mrs. Gomez was a self-employed Dog Groomer and an active member of the Salvation Army Church. Mrs. Gomez attended the Salvation Army Church all her life, became a Junior Soldier in 1954, a Senior Soldier in 1958, and had been a member of the Home League for 32 years. She was a Girl Guard Leader for six years and a Sunday school and Junior Soldier Teacher for many years. She was a Home League Historian since 1994, and started the League of Mercy in 1990.

Survivors include a daughter, Anita Cipriana Sumner and husband William Homer Bud, Jr., Palmdale, California; two grandchildren, Amanda Jo Gregory and William Homer Bud Sumner, III, both of Palmdale, California; siblings, Paul Edward Turner, Jr., Stratford, Jerry Don Turner, Ada, twins, Royce Harold Turner, Stratford and Joyce Carol Fuchs and husband Steven, Oregon, and Douglas Ray Turner and wife Linda Diane, Ada; and numerous other family members and friends.

Bearers will be David Paul Turner, Jeremy Turner, David Whittington, Leslie Gregory, Michael Harbin, Troy Schnepp, Robert Fields, and Scott Mundell.
