Mr. Ray died Monday, July 10, 2023 at a local nursing home. He was born January 22, 1965 in Ada to Rex Eugene and Betty Horton Ray. He attended Roff Schools.
Bo began his working career at a young age on the Horseshoe Ranch, south of Roff, for Alvin Powell. Before he had his driver's license he drove a little dirt bike from the Turner Ranch, where his family lived, to the Horseshoe Ranch. Bo then worked for an Asbestos Abatement Company based in Oklahoma City and traveled to various places including Japan and Hawaii. Next, he was employed with Parker Drilling Company on an off shore rig and then later worked as a derrick hand for Lonnie on Unit Rig 254. They drilled several wells in western Oklahoma, moved to the Clayton area in eastern Oklahoma and drilled more. He also drove a truck hauling drilling mud from the warehouse to different rigs.
Bo enjoyed hunting and fishing where he caught big catfish on Boggy Creek, Striper Bass on Lake Texhoma, and crappie in local farm ponds, but most of all his delight was his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Ashlee Brown and husband Shane of Roff; mother, Betty Ray, of Roff; six grandchildren, Jaylee Higgins, Kynslee Higgins, Preslee Higgins, Gunner Brown, Brodie Brown and Swayzie Brown, all of Roff; two sisters, Susie Shumard and Sharon Lancaster, both of Roff; brother, Lonnie Ray and wife Theresa, of Roff; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Ray; grandparents, Roach and Bessie Horton and Jake and Irene Ray; brothers-in-law, Benny Shumard and David Lancaster; two nephews and several aunts and uncles.
