Jimmy Laughlin went to be with the Lord Jesus on February 25, 2008, at 51 years of age. He was born on August 17, 1956, in Eldora, Iowa, to Gerald and Monique Laughlin. Jimmy lived and worked much of his life at McCall's Chapel in Ada, Oklahoma. It was originally called McCall's Chapel School, a Home for Exceptional Children, and he truly was exceptional. He always had a cheerful smile and was loved by all who knew him. He will be missed not only by his immediate family, but also his "family" of residents and staff at McCall's.
Jimmy was born with Down's Syndrome and was a joyful example of how life should be lived. His life proved the truth of one of his favorite t-shirts that said, "God don't make no junk".
James Byron Laughlin is survived by his father Gerald D. Laughlin of Pampa, Texas; his mother Monique M. Laughlin of Edmond, Oklahoma; his brother Roy Laughlin and wife Marki of Wheeler, Texas; his brother Owen Laughlin and wife Charlette of Woodward, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration of Jimmy's life will be held at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, Oklahoma, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, Texas.
Memorials may be sent to McCall's Chapel, 13546 CR 3600, Ada, Oklahoma 74820.
