JEWELL COLEMAN
ADA- Services for Jewell Coleman, 90, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. George Warren will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Coleman died Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born February 24, 1918 at Westville, Oklahoma to Henry and Lucille Woods Rickner. She graduated from Quay, Oklahoma high school and East Central University. She received a Master's degree in Education from East Central University. She moved to Ada in 1956 from Tulsa.
She married Clifford Briggs in 1940. She married Carl Coleman in 1949. He died in 1968. She later married Ed McClary in 1978 and he preceded her in death in 1999. Mrs. Coleman taught English and Speech at Ada Jr. High and Ada High School until her retirement. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Pontotoc County Retired Teacher's Association.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Rick Coleman and wife Susan, Ada; a sister-in-law, Peggy Hager, Yale, OK; four grandchildren, Catherine Christine Glaze and husband Danny, Camden, AR, Dr. Brian Rickner Coleman, Norman, Keri Coleman Prince, Ada, and Bradley Rickner Coleman, Ada; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Rickner, Tommy Rickner, and Jimmy Rickner.
Bearers will be Dr. Jerry Morgan, Bob Stick, Don Hood, Donnie Byrd, Jon Ross, and Buck Buxton.
