JESSIE LOYD
TUPELO-Services for Jessie Emery "Shug" Loyd, 88, Tupelo, are 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bob Graham will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Stonewall. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Loyd died Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Veterans hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born November 13, 1920 at Tupelo, Oklahoma to Ben and "Clemmie" Maddox Loyd. He attended Tupelo schools.
Mr. Loyd was a retired truck driver and a farmer and rancher. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, LaVonda Good, Oklahoma City and Jackie Mayberry, Sulphur; four grandchildren, Kyle Mayberry, Weston, Florida, Chad Mayberry, Moore, OK, Rick Good and fiancé, Trish Arnold, Oklahoma City, and Kelli Jones and husband Chris, Edmond, OK; four great granddaughters, Morgan Mayberry, and Meadow, Cayman and Laken Jones; two nieces, Neva Poole and Betty Payne; and one nephew, Roy Loyd.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marvella Loyd on November 19, 2001, a brother, Liberty Loyd, a sister, Louise Modene, and a nephew, Cyril Loyd.
Bearers will be Rick Good, Chad Mayberry, Chris Jones, Gary Messec, Tyler Messec, and Roy Deck. Honorary bearers will be Roy Emery Loyd, Ralph Holland, R. V. Phillips, Bill Henley, Charles Olson, Don L. Mann, and Carl Hill (in memory).
