SAM JONES

ADA-Services for Jesse Sampson "Sam" Jones, 81, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Central Church of Christ, Bud Ross will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Jones died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at a local hospital. He was born September 3, 1927 at Stratford, Oklahoma to Jesse Stevenson and Mary Annie Chambers Griffin Jones. He attended Stratford schools, received a Bachelor's Degree from East Central University and a Master's Degree in Education from Southwest Texas State Teachers College.

He married Cleta Anita Clark on September 4, 1958 at Pleasanton, Texas. Mr. Jones was a counselor for over 30 years with the Visual Services Rehabilitation Service for the blind with the State of Oklahoma. He was a member of Central Church of Christ and a former member of the Toastmasters in Texas. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Jones, of the home; two sons, David Sublett and wife Sabrina, Oklahoma City and Kyle Jones, Byng; one daughter, Kelly Barnes and husband Mark, Rolla, MO; a sister, Frances Mayer, Rosedale, OK; eleven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons, Mark Sublett and Jeffrey Jones.

Bearers will be Bennie Cope, Eric Jorgenson, Brett Whitley, John Eck and Todd Crabtree.
