JERRY HUGH YOUNG
GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA-Graveside services for Jerry Hugh Young, 79, Gainesville, Florida, formerly of the Ada area, are 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Lightning Ridge Cemetery.
Dr. Young died Friday, October 22, 2010 in Gainesville. He was born August 4, 1931 at Lightning Ridge, Oklahoma to Leonard T. and Elizabeth Bulloch Young. He attended Fitzhugh Grade School and graduated from Fitzhugh High School. He received his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degrees from Oklahoma A & M University and his PhD from the University of California Berkeley.
He married Linda J. Cornette. Dr. Young was a Professor of Entomology at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater until his retirement and later was a farmer in Nebraska. He served in the U. S. Army Infantry during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Linda J. Young, of the home; two sons, John J. Young, San Jose, Costa Rica, and Shamar J. Young, Gainesville, FL; two daughters, RaQwin M. Young, Tallahassee, FL and Julie Young Crider, Mansfield, TX; two granddaughters, Tess Crider, College Station, TX, and Cori Crider, London, England; and two sisters, Carol Ham, Garden City, KS and Robby Tollison, Hilltop Lakes, TX.
