Services for Jerry McCarty, 79 of Stonewall are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Criswell Funeral Home.  Rev. Donna Pewo will officiate. The family will receive friends form 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Jerry McCarty entered this world in Ada, Oklahoma on February 23, 1944 to Homer McCarty and Rachel Ward McCarty. Jerry peacefully passed away on Friday July 28, 2023 at Chickasaw Nation Medical Center with his family at his side. He walked this Earth hand in hand with his wife Phillis for 57 years, and he walked with God for his entire life. He was member of the Oklahoma Indian Mission Conference churches and visited many of the local Native churches in the area. Jerry retired as an electrician from McDonnel Douglas and the Indian Health Service at Claremore Indian Hospital.

Jerry was an avid sports fan, especially OU, the Dallas Cowboys, and anything soccer.  He played many sports in his lifetime.   He coached his kids in soccer and continued to coach after they moved on.  He enjoyed fishing, travelling, and loved hosting family reunions.

He was not just an electrician; he had an ability for fixing things.  He was a mechanic, a plumber, a carpenter, just about anything that needed a tool.

He worked for the churches he attended.  He helped with accounting, construction, and repairs.

He loved the land he grew up on. When he moved back, he made many improvements to the ponds and the rest of the landscape.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and youngest son Chad McCarty. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Phillis and his son Charles "Chuck" McCarty of Jesse, his daughter Melinda Shaun Wiegmann and husband John of Palm Bay, Florida, his grandsons, Devin and Skylar Wiegmann of Norman Oklahoma, his granddaughter and her husband Kori and Brett Komahcheet of Norman Oklahoma, his cousin and wife Mark and Rose McCarty of Jesse, and Markus and Markita Runnells and her husband Tanner of Jesse, Oklahoma.  Jerry is also survived by a large family Charles and Karen Romick, Lena Billy, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
