IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerry
Danielson
December 5, 1941 – July 13, 2024
Memorial services for Jerry Danielson of Ada, Oklahoma, are 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024 at First Methodist Church in Ada.
Jerry passed away Saturday, July 13th, 2024. Born on December 5, 1941, in Superior Wisconsin. Jerry ("Poppy" to his five grandchildren) was the third son of Hjalmer and Jeannette Danielson. The family moved to Durant, Oklahoma from Rice Lake Wisconsin. Jerry graduated from Durant High School in 1961. He graduated from Southeastern State University in 1964 and married Carolyn Pate Danielson in 1965. Together they raised two children, Amy and Jeremy, and were married for almost 60 years.
Hired by Conoco immediately following college, Jerry spent 40 years in the oil and gas industry. In 1975, Mr. Danielson acquired his first distributorship which eventually became known as Danielson Oil Company. As a member of the Oklahoma Petroleum Marketers Association, Jerry served many years on the state board as well as serving as the OPMA President. He served on several national committees for Conoco-Phillips as well as Kerr-McGee and was responsible for bringing the first pay -at -the- pump dispensers for Conoco to the state of Oklahoma. He was a hard worker for his entire life and instilled that great work ethic in his children and grandchildren.
Jerry had many titles- husband, dad, grandfather, son, friend, brother, business-owner, community servant, church trustee, golfer, booster member…. He wore lots of hats during his almost 83 years, but "friend" might have been one of his most important titles. Jerry cherished his friendships and the many relationships of his life. He was social and loved great conversations and time spent with those he loved. Sunday mornings in the Homebuilder's Sunday School class was one of his favorite places to be and the friendships he developed there were life-long.
A devoted husband and father, Jerry loved to "go" and the term "let's go," was a frequent expression he used, even up until his last weeks of life. He was not one to be idle. Ever. Whether it was building a family business, trips to the mountains with Carolyn and his kids, pulling a camper across the United States, an afternoon of golfing, or simply having dinner out with dear friends….. Jerry was always ready to "go." It was not uncommon for him to tell Carolyn, "I stay ready."
For the last few years, Jerry lived with the great challenge of dementia. But through it all, he retained his gentle and kind spirit even as things became physically challenging for him. Jerry is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 59 years, his daughter Amy Lawson and her husband Mike, his son Jeremy and his wife Jill, and his brother Tim Danielson. He also leaves behind five fabulous grandchildren, Caroline Miles and her husband Brett, Kate Bardell and her husband Will, Will Lawson, Tate Danielson, and Reid Danielson, as well as three great grandsons, Bear Bardell, Mac and Mason Miles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmer and Jeannette Danielson, and a brother, Rip Danielson.
