Jerry Ted Brashears, 89, a resident of Ada, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on August 12th, 2024 in the Sulphur Veterans Center after a long and fulfilling life.

Jerry was born on May 19, 1935 in Stonewall, OK to Louis Quitman and Lois Edna (Holland) Brashears. Jerry graduated from Leuzinger High School, in California. After graduating, Jerry enlisted in the United States Army for 2 years as a second class Gunman as a sniper, recognized with many achievements including; Good Conduct and Marksmanship metal.

He started his life in California where he met his beloved wife. In 1963, Jerry was married to Anne Margaret Dockerill in Los Angeles, California. Jerry and Anne went on to have 4 children, Mark Brashears, Stephen Dockerill, Lisa Brashears, and Theresa Buxton. After leaving the service, he began his work as a mechanic for Service Chevrolet in Ada, Oklahoma where he retired.

Jerry was a great father. While raising his kids, they spent their time fishing and camping. He was known by his family as the biggest jokester. He loved to scare people and enjoyed wrestling with his kids. Jerry took great efforts to make it to every ball game, recital, birthday party and graduation. If it was in his power to make it, he was there and wanted pictures every step of the way.

After retirement, Jerry spent the remainder of his life enjoying the births and accomplishments of all 25 great-grandchildren. His time spent with them completed his life. He was known for the love he had for all the children that he was blessed with in his family. It brought him great joy during every arrival and celebration for each child in the family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, his daughter Theresa, and his brother David. Those left to carry on his legacy are his children: Mark Brashears and wife Kim of Stonewall, Stephen Dockerill of Ada, Lisa Brashears of Ada; sister, Pamela Brashears of Ada; nine grandchildren: Jessie Nolen, Danielle Masoner and husband Joel, Christina York and husband Jake, Ryan Brashears, Aron Cloud and husband Colton, Justin Brashears and wife Skilar, Tara Brashears, Jordan King and husband Tyler, Taylor Anderson and husband Andrew, and 25 great-grandchildren.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Justin Brashears, Ryan Brashears, Raiden Nolen, Kainen Nolen, Boston Masoner, and Reese Brashears. Honorary Pallbearer is Jessie Nolen.

Services will be held at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jimmy Keith officiating. Burial will follow at Jesse Cemetery.
