JAY LAWSON
ADA-Services for Jasper Joy "Jay" Lawson, 82, Ada, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends at Criswell Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Lawson died Thursday, November 4, 2010 at a Midwest City hospital. He was born January 23, 1928 at Roff, Oklahoma to Jewel Lea and Ruth Joy Coulson Lawson. He attended Lawrence grade schools. He lived most of his life in the Duncan, Arizona area and graduated from high school in Duncan, Arizona.
He married Edna Cox on January 27, 1962. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2002. Mr. Lawson was an auto mechanic for Bowie Ballard Ford until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and had served in the U. S. Navy during World War II from January 24, 1946 until being honorably discharged November 19, 1947.
Survivors include one son, John T. Lawson and his wife Trudy, Phoenix, AZ; a daughter, Lisa Works and her husband James, Choctaw; five grandchildren, Timothy Smith and Jamie Works, Choctaw, Kris Mayse, Cleburne, TX, Scott Works and Ann Lewis and husband Josh, all of Seminole; two great-grandchildren, Jaidan Lewis and Cienna Works; a special friend, Mary Cameron; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Mayse, October 6, 2006.
