JUDY HICKS-SAMIS
ADA-Services for Jannie "Judy" Hicks-Samis, 67, of Ada, are 12:00 Noon, Friday at the Faith Baptist Church, Rev. Tony Buck will officiate. Burial will follow at Filmore Cemetery in Johnston County. A Wake Service will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Faith Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hicks-Samis died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at her home. She was born June 24, 1946 in Durant, Oklahoma to Homer and Frankie Filmore Alberson. She lived in the Ravia area most of her life, attending Ravia Elementary school and graduating from Ravia High School. She also attended Murray State College in Tishomingo.
She married Roy R. Samis in Phoenix, Arizona. Mrs. Hicks-Samis was employed with J. P. EMCO Company in Ada for 10 years, later, she was a fragrance department employee with Revlon for 10 years in Phoenix, Arizona. She had also worked for Carl Albert Indian Hospital in the medical records department for 5 years. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and the Chickasaw Nation. She enjoyed camping and the outdoors.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Samis, of the home; two sons, Anthony Hicks and wife Karen of Choctaw and Ronnie Hicks and wife Raynell of Ada; a daughter, Debra Davis and husband Steven of Ada; two step-daughters, Wynona Gale Cusher and husband Joe of Battiste, OK, and Shonda Elrod of Blountstown, FL; her grandchildren, Stephanie Chapa and husband Glen of Choctaw, Anthony Hicks, Jr. and wife Dannielle of Nicoma Park, James Hicks of Choctaw, Quannah Lindsey of Ada, Sequoyah Lindsey of Ada, Shaylee Hicks and Wes Gray of Allen, Charles Hicks and wife Brittany, Thunder Hicks, James Serna, Jason Serna, Micah Hicks all of Ada, Tyler Cusher and Colton Cusher both of Battiste.; and three nieces, Christine Dorer of Tishomingo, Allison Byford and husband Bret of Tulsa, and Denise Legg of Tishomingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a twin sister, Jane Legg.
Bearers will be her grandsons, Anthony Hicks, Charles Hicks, Quannah Lindsey, Sequoyah Lindsey, Thunder Hicks, James Hicks, Jason Serna, and Tyler Cusher. Honorary bearers will be Colton Cusher and James Serna.
