JANIS ABBOTT
ADA-A Celebration of Life service will be held for Janis Marie Abbott, 51, Ada at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. Pat Kilby will officiate.
Mrs. Abbott died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at a local hospital. She was born July 31, 1959 in Ada, Oklahoma to Gary and Lola Beth Knabe Holt. She attended grade school in Concord, California and graduated from Concord High School. She received a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Early Childhood Development from Hayward State University in Hayward, California.
She married Paul Abbott on July 17, 1983. Mrs. Abbott was an elementary school teacher in California until her retirement. Previously, she and her mother operated 'Flowers and Gifts by Lola' in California. She was a member of Clayton Valley Church in Concord, California. She and her family moved to Ada in 2007 from Little Elm, Texas where they lived for four years. She was affiliated with the First Baptist Church in Ada. Mrs. Abbott was an avid scuba diver and snow skier. She also enjoyed floral arranging, playing the piano, organ and guitar.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Abbott, of the home and her beloved Dude; two daughters, Heather Abbott, Brush Prairie, WA, and Sarah Maxwell and her husband Joel, Plano, TX; a granddaughter, Emily of Brush Prairie, WA; a sister, Peggy Monzon and her husband Alex, Phoenix, AZ; a nephew, Dominic; a niece, Elizabeth; her uncle, Jim Holt, Fairbanks, AK; an aunt, Nelda Champion, Walnut Creek, CA; cousins, Brent Holt, Elmore City and Stacy Foshee, Fairbanks, AK; brother-in-law, The Honorable David Abbott and his wife Susan, Sacramento, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and an aunt, Barbara Holt.
