JAMES MULLINS
ADA-Services for James Elijah "Jack" Mullins, 83, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Oak Avenue Baptist Church, Revs. Dennis Tate and Jimmy Hoffman will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Mullins died Thursday, January 31, 2008 at a local hospital. He was born July 2, 1924 in the Conway – Steedman community, east of Ada, Oklahoma to William and Lorene Laughlin Mullins. He lived in this area all his life and attended Beebe schools.
He married Freda Joann Hopper on August 25, 1950 in Ada, Oklahoma. She died May 3, 1990 in Ada. Mr. Mullins was a homebuilder contractor for many years, and later was a carpenter for Byng Schools, retiring in November 2006 after 15 years of service. In August 2007 he went to work as a handyman at the Pontotoc County Adult Daycare Center. He was a member of the Homer Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include three sons, Jackie Mullins and wife Faye, Ada, Ronnie Mullins and friend, Shirl, Ada, and Darrell Mullins and friend Michelle, Ada; five daughters, Jo Bateman and husband Roy, Wolf, Diana McClellan and husband Larry, Ada, Patti Sanders and husband Doyle, Ada, Lisa Stanley, Ada, and Nancy Whitson and husband Gary, Ada; one sister, Lottie Cope, Ada; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Woodrow Mullins, and Richard Mullins; three sisters, Loretta Cowger, Bobbie Berger, and Betty Scroggins; and a great granddaughter, Brittany Yvonne Mullins.
Bearers will be grandsons, Dale Mullins, Tommy Mullins, Chad Bateman, Barney Mullins, Nic Davis, and Zac Baxley.
