JIM TRAHERN
ADA-Graveside services for James Ray (Jim) Trahern, 78, Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rev. David Daniel will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Trahern died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born August 22, 1932 in Ada, Oklahoma to Roy D. and Juanita McCalip Trahern. He attended Willard grade school and graduated from Ada High School in 1950. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Education from East Central University in 1954.
He married Dorothy Jean Miller on September 5, 1953 in Ada, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on June 23, 1970. Mr. Trahern was employed as a cashier at Oklahoma State Bank in the 1950's and retired as Vice President from Citizen's Bank in 1982. He also had been employed at the First National Bank. Mr. Trahern was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member and past president of the Ada Lion's Club and the Ada Elks Lodge #1640.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie Yardley and her husband Rockie of Edmond, OK, and DeAnn Briggs and her husband John of Jackson, MO; a son, Jim Trahern and his wife Julie of Adair, OK; his longtime companion, Phyllis Potter, Ada; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Sadler, Jamey Trahern, Jared Trahern, Max Yardley, Beth Trahern, James Trahern and Preston Briggs; a great granddaughter, Maddy Sadler; an aunt, Dorothy Joyce, Ocean Springs, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Conrad L. Trahern.
Bearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be Calvin Bickham, Henry Katz, Jack McMahan, Stanley Taylor and Mike Gray.
