Rev. James Gibson

Services for Rev. James Carl Gibson, 83, of Ada, OK, formerly of Bangs are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Davis Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Bangs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

James was born December 26, 1934 at Jewett, TX. He passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 in Ada, OK.

James was educated at Jewett, Rice University and Southwestern Baptist Seminary.

He married Patricia Ann Mason November 29, 1956 in Houston. James pastored four churches and was Chaplain at the Brownwood State School for Girls. Moving to pastor First Baptist Church, Bangs in 1964, James and Pat pastored two churches in Brown County.

He made mission trips to Mozambique in Africa and the 3 ^rd trip with his wife Pat. They lived there for several months while he built a church. During their fifty plus years in Brown County, they had several businesses. Their business and church friends were, and are, a blessing to the family.

Survivors include his wife, Pat, of the home; son, Tony Gibson and wife Jenny Cypert of Ada, OK; son, Dwain Gibson of Redvale, CO; and his grandchildren, Mason, Charlie and Lincoln.

Bearers are Maurice Huggins, Bo Blair, Larry Randolph, Randy McVay, Wynn Byler and Bobby Nelson.
