JAMES DENNEY, SR.
ADA-Graveside services for James Robert Denney, Sr., 95, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Red Oak Cemetery in Latimer County, Rev. Bob Langston will officiate.
Mr. Denney died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at his home. He was born September 19, 1913 at Portland, Indiana to Raymond and Neva Hallam Denney. He graduated from Portland High School and attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He married Jean Danley May 2, 1935. She preceded him in death in May, 1997. They were married for 62 years. Mr. Denney was the chief roller with United States Steel, Sheet and Tin Division in Gary, Indiana from 1932 until 1973, retiring with 41 years of service. Upon his retirement, he and his wife purchased ranch land in Red Oak, Oklahoma where they established another home. He was an Episcopalian.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Petry and husband Paul, Centennial, Colorado, and Rebecca Bowen and husband Norman, Ada; and two sons, James Robert Denney, Jr. and wife Sandra, Scotia, New York, and Richard Denney and wife Ronda, Winamac, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
