James Bateman

On Wednesday, February 26, 2020, James Calvin Bateman, loving husband and father of five children, passed away at age 78, in his home peacefully with family around him.

Jim was born on April 16, 1941 in Folsom, CA to James and Beatrice (Field) Bateman. He married his wife Joy (Toby) Bateman, December 3, 1976. They raised three sons, Darren Bateman, Clinton Kuper and Eric Kuper, and two daughters, Denise DeYulio, Elaine Folkes. He was a beloved community member and a longtime business owner in Rio Linda, CA and was very involved in the Fittstown, OK Volunteer Fire Department.

Jim had a passion for painting and working with his hands. His paintings and leather working were much admired not only by friends and family, but also by all who frequented where his works were displayed. He was also an Automobile enthusiast; loved building race cars, rebuilding motors and sharing his knowledge with others. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, giving nature and his kind and compassionate spirit. He was loved by many and known to many as Pappy, which was a name that aligned with trust, respect and admiration.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Sr., his mother, Bea and his son, Darren. He is survived by his wife Joy, his four children, Clint, Denise, Eric, and Elaine, his sister Betty Reed, and six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7 th , 2020 at Criswell Funeral Home, 815 Arlington St, Ada, OK 74820 at 10 o'clock a.m. Flowers or donations may be sent to Criswell Funeral Home.
