JAMES ARMSTRONG
ADA-Memorial services for James L. Armstrong, 89, Ada, are 3:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Ada, Father John D. Norvell will officiate.
Mr. Armstrong died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at a local hospital. He was born June 17, 1921 in Oklahoma City to William J. and Minnie Lee Burrus Armstrong. He attended elementary school in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School. He received a Bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Oklahoma. He joined Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity at the University. After serving two years as Captain in the tank corps in Italy during World War II, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma Law School, where he belonged to the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.
He and his wife, Tish Haney Armstrong moved to Ada in 1949, where he practiced Law. He was a 60 year member of the Oklahoma Bar Association. He belonged to the American Association of Professional Landmen.
Survivors include his wife, Tish Armstrong, of the home; his children, Letitia Armstrong of Oklahoma City, James Armstrong, Jr. of Oakland, CA, and Haney Armstrong and wife Caroline Colburn Armstrong of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren, David Colburn Armstrong and Claire Armstrong, both of San Francisco, CA; a nephew, William B. Armstrong, Stillwater; and a niece, Judith Christensen, The Woodlands, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. Armstrong and Minnie Lee Burrus Armstrong and by his brother, William B. Armstrong.
