KONAWA-Services for Jackie Ann Carpitcher Kernel, 74, Konawa, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rock Springs Baptist Church near Sasakwa. The Revs. Jimsey Harjo, George Harjo and Eric Thlocco will officiate. Burial will follow at the Harjo Family Cemetery in Konawa.
Mrs. Kernel died Feb. 15, 2018, at a Midwest City hospital. She was born Nov. 16, 1943, to Jackie and Winnie Mae Harjo Carpitcher, at Seminole. She graduated from Konawa High School and was employed as a licensed practical nurse. She assisted as a volunteer for the Murrah Building bombing. Mrs. Kernel was baptized in September 1955 at Exchange Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and was Sister's Leader at Seminole Baptist Church. She was the 2011-2012 Senior Princess for the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Kernel.
Survivors include her daughter Rhonda Leigh Narcomey of Wolf; her son Charlie Jack Harjo of Bethany; her sisters Julia Scott of Ardmore, and JoAnna Walker of Byng; her brothers Larry Johnson of El Reno, and Jimmy Carpitcher of Sasakwa; her companion Antler Harjo; 10 grandchildren, Ateesha Harjo, William Narcomy, Tashina Narcomy, WinterStar Narcomy, WinterDawn Narcomy, Alexander Thomas Harjo, Destiny Harjo, Rhinnon Camp, Zaniel Camp, and Cynda Camp; and 2.5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Cosar, and a daughter, Rhoda Lovell (Harjo) Camp.
Bearers will be Travis Scott, Timothy Scott, Michael Walker, Mario Walker, Marques Walker, Isreal Camp, Randall Harjo and Jon Isacc. Honorary bearers are all Women's Leaders.
