Obituary

Jack Wiley Paschall, 80, of Ada, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at his home. He was born June 4, 1943 in Vaughn, New Mexico to Jesse Mastain and Mary Belle Oller Paschall. After the war the family was joined by a brother, Charles Hughes and a sister, Fannie Arvalee.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and a step-son, Sean McDonald.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Martin McDonald Paschall of the home; his Mother-In-Law, Dorothy Martin of Rufe, OK, his children: son, James Paschall and wife Lori, Kingwood, TX: a daughter, Mary Taylor and husband Stephen, Ada, OK; a daughter-in-law, Michelle McDonald of Norman, OK. Jack had nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. His sister, Fannie Bates lives in Ft. Worth, TX. A nephew, Jonathan Bates, his wife Diondria and their eight children. Two godsons, Bryan Welch and Blake Welch and numerous cousins whom he loved very much.

Jack spent his early years in various towns in New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma moving to Red Oak, Oklahoma in third grade.  He proudly called Red Oak his hometown for the remainder of his life.

He graduated from Red Oak High School in1961. Earned later degrees from Southeastern State College, Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico and the University of Oklahoma. From 1970 until 1999 he served in several different roles at East Central University; Director of Audio Visual, Director of Student Teaching, and Dean of the Graduate School. He continued to work part time through the spring of 2024.

Jack believed in public schools. He had many close relationships with educators across the state. In lieu of flowers please donate to the East Central University Foundation for the Jack Paschall Graduate Education Scholarship, 1100 East 14th Box Y8 Ada, Ok 74820 (580-559-5655).

According to Jack's wishes there will be no service at this time.  His remains will be buried at Sobel, Oklahoma in a private family service in the future.
