Jack Howry
ADA-Services for Jack Berry Howry, 79, of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Latta. Rev. Coy Howry will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Howry died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at a Norman Hospital. He was born June 18, 1935 in Hollis, Oklahoma to William Berry "Jake" Howry and Susie Green Cary Howry. He graduated from McLish High School in 1953.
He married Katherine Stevenson June 4, 1954 in Latta. Mr. Howry was a Materials Foreman for Sun Oil Company, which became Oryx until his retirement. He was associated with Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of the First Baptist Church in Ada. He became a Christian in 1944, when he gave his life to the Lord during a service at Fittstown Baptist Church. Mr. Howry was a member of the Grand Lodge of Oklahoma, Ada Lodge #119 and had served in the U. S. Army, and was stationed in Germany from 1957-1958. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing and tinkering in his shop.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine, of the home; a daughter, Kristin Kay Grant and her husband Matthew of Hot Springs, AR; a grandson, Jacob Matthew Grant; a brother, George Howry of Ada; a special cousin, Donna Cadwalader of Stillwater; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Landon Clay Howry; a granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Howry; three brothers, Rev. Joe Howry, Theron Howry and Virdell Howry; and a sister, Thelma Ramsay.
Bearers will be Jacob Grant, Matthew Grant, Dell Howry, Steve Howry, Mark White and Luke Kerr. Honorary bearers will be George Howry, Sam Whisenhunt, Keith Howry and Randy Gilbert.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104-5097; the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,6931 Arlington Rd, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, Maryland 20841; or the Building Fund at the Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 15791 SH 1W, Ada, OK 74820.
