JACK EDEN
STONEWALL-Services for Jack Dale Eden, 71, Stonewall are 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Don Hoover will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Stonewall.
Mr. Eden died Monday, November 19, 2007 at a local hospital. He was born September 14, 1936 at Bokoshe, Oklahoma to Willard W. "Jack" and Gwendolyn Davies Eden. He graduated from Stonewall High School and East Central University. He served in the U. S. Navy for two years.
He married Sydney Kaye Dennis on October 18, 1958. Mr. Eden began his teaching career in Rocky Ford, Colorado. In 1965, he moved to Welch, Oklahoma as an Elementary Principal and 6th grade teacher. He retired in 1991. Mr. Eden had been active in law enforcement, serving as reserve officer both in Craig and Pontotoc Counties. He served as Civil Defense Director and volunteer firefighter for over 20 years. He was also a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician. In 1996, he and his wife moved from Welch back to the Stonewall area.
Survivors include his wife, Sydney Kay Eden, of the home; a son, Brett Eden, of the home; a grandson, Noah Eden, of the home; grandson, Cale Strickland, Chetopa, KS; brothers, Ben Eden, Beggs, and Bill Eden, Shidler; a sister, Wilda Hendrick, San Saba, Texas; and numerous cousins, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister.
Bearers will be Bob Hatton, Dewayne Cranford, Larry Gross, Jeff Morrison, and Joe Glover.
