JACK COWGER
ADA-Services for Jack Estal Cowger, 88, Ada, are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Gene Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Cowger was born May 11, 1921, to Grady and Nancy Perrine Cowger by the river near Ada, OK. He died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at his home. He moved to California during World War II to work in the shipyards and then joined the Merchant Marines. He returned to Oklahoma and was employed in the maintenance departments at Valley View Regional Hospital, Sugg Clinic and the Social Services Center. Mr. Cowger was also a farmer and a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Mr. Cowger and Loretta Mullins were married in 1958.
Survivors include a son, William Cowger and wife Sharlene, Ada; a brother, Don Johnson, Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Jason Cowger, Oklahoma City, Justin Cowger, Janessa and husband Archie Vanhorn, and Jordan Cowger, all of Ada; and one great-grandson, Gage Vanhorn, Ada
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta, Dec. 29, 1999, and by a sister, Shirley Ford.
Bearers will be Jason Cowger, Justin Cowger, Jordan Cowger, Archie Vanhorn, Mike Lawler and Raymond Tharp.
