Obituary

J. D. "JAKE" HARDIN
ADA-Services for J. D. "Jake" Hardin, 85, of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Reaper Baptist Church, Rev. Clive Cochran will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Stonewall.
Mr. Hardin died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at a local nursing home. He was born May 10, 1929 at Lima, Oklahoma to Ola and Hattie Hill Hardin.
He married the love of his life, L. V. Wright. She preceded him in death on February 10, 1994. Mr. Hardin had been employed at May's Lumber and retired from the service department at Service Chevrolet in Ada. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Vernita Richardson McDowell and husband Al of Ada, Gregg Hardin and Charlesetta of Bristow, and Earnest Wright and wife Angela, Stanley Richardson and Evelyn Cushenberry and husband Tony, all of Ada; 10 grandchildren, Shyilah Hardin, Maliyah Hardin, Theron Richardson whom he helped raise and his wife Maribel, Terrance Richardson, Colton Richardson, Natasha Nowlin, Elvia Mitchell whom he helped raise, Donnell McDowell, Jasmine Daniels and Chaz Daniels; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a niece he helped rear, Oletha Futrel and his cousins that he helped raise include Brenda, Sharon, Bruce, Wendell, and Pat, a niece, Dorothy, a great niece, Felicia; and a brother-in-law, Willie Lee Brown.
J. D. was known for his love and passion for Gospel music in which he has been in Gospel singing groups playing his guitar all his life. J. D. also loved basketball. He coached hundreds of players at New Lima and in Ada. His passion spilled over on his son, Gregg Hardin who played ball in Oklahoma and Missouri and now is the head coach at Bristow High School.
J. D. will be remembered for all these things but none more important than being a great father/mentor and a man of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, L. V. Hardin; three sisters, Clarena Shelton, Huella Brown and Buelena Johnson; and two brothers, Buford Hardin and Emory Hardin.
