J. D. JACKSON

ADA-Services for J. D. Jackson, 80, Ada, are 10:00 A.M. Friday at the Criswell Chapel, Rev. Tony Peak officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Jackson died on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at his home. He was born March 17, 1930, in Pontotoc County in the Ada area, to Eddie Mart and Daisy Mae Bass Jackson. He attended school at the Little Red School House and graduated from Latta. He attended East Central University for one year. He retired as a Mechanical Engineer from the U. S. Postal Service in 1972. Mr. Jackson served in the U. S. Army from March 6, 1946 until September 12, 1948 in the European Theatre. He served as DAV State Commander from 1991-1992, as a member of the Oklahoma War Veterans Commission from 1993 – 1996, and was a member of the Ada Masonic Lodge, serving as Master from 1987-1988. He was a member of Lovelady Baptist Church.

He married Wynema Higgins on October 23, 1954, in Ada.

Survivors include his wife, Wynema Jackson, of the home; two sons, Mike Jackson, Ada; and Chet Boykin, Ada; daughter-in-law, Becky Jackson, Ada; brother, Dave Jackson, Ada; six grandchildren, Kara Stone, Kursten Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Kyle Jackson, Kevin Jackson and Bethany Jackson; and one great grandson, Cason Stone. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Jackson, and ten brothers and sisters.

Bearers are Joe Bailey, Dean Brown, Bill Snyder, Sterling Henley, Cody Peak, and Ken Hudson. Honorary bearers will be Frank Jared, Jerry Christian, Jerry Howard and A. G. Sanders.
