ILA FAYE WHITE
ADA-Services for Ila Faye White, 80, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church, Rev. Jerry Wells will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. White died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at a local hospital. She was born June 13, 1930 at Dolberg, Oklahoma to Nim Porter and Daphene Wright Jones. She attended grade school at Dolberg and graduated from Roff High School in 1948.
She married Vaskon White on February 24, 1952 at the First Baptist Church in Ada. Mrs. White was employed with the Pontotoc County Clerk and Court Clerk's offices from 1948 until 1955. From 1955 until 1959, she was employed with the Highway Department in Pontotoc County. Mrs. White graduated from East Central University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and she received a Master's degree with Reading Specialist Certification in 1973. She taught 2nd grade at Byng Elementary for 17 years and for 4 years at Homer Elementary. She retired in 1992. Mrs. White was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, the Oklahoma Education Association, a charter member of the Reading Specialist Association, the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association; and a founding member of the Dolberg Cemetery Association.
Survivors include her husband, Vaskon White, of the home; a daughter, Karen Lynn Burris, Ada; two grandchildren, Jeremy Alan Burris and wife Lisa, Ada, and Ashley Nicole Heath and husband T. J., Ada; her great grandchildren, Bryli Nicole Heath, Ada, and Jesse Michael Burris, Tennessee; a nephew, Keith Hatcher and nieces, Cathy and Kim Hatcher, all of Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lydia Hatcher and an infant sister; and a brother-in-law, Bob Hatcher.
Bearers will be Rusty Fuller, Don Sayre, David Gray, Bill Barrett, Bobby Johns, and James Hill. Honorary bearers will be Frank Jared, Houston McGaha, Sam Johnston, and Ken Roberts.
