IDA VEOMIA QUIETT

ADA-Services for Ida Veomia Quiett, 96, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Rev. Linda Snelling officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Quiett died on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at a local nursing home. She was born January 22, 1912, near Gene Autrey, Oklahoma, to John Edward and Mary Frances Taylor Lobstein. She was a mother of six children, a homemaker, and a saleslady for several stores including J. C. Penney Company in Levelland, Texas and Ada, Oklahoma. She was an excellent seamstress and wonderful cook. She lived in Oklahoma in her early years then moved to Lorenzo, Texas, and later Lubbock, Texas and spent nearly 65 years in Levelland before moving to Ada. She was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Norris Harbin Quiett, on December 24, 1927, in Crosby County, Texas. They were married for over 79 years and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2007.

Survivors include two sons, Ray Quiett and his wife Connie, Ada; and Truman Quiett and his wife Alice, Levelland, Texas; two daughters, Pauline Laseman and her husband Rayburn, Norman; and Sue Nolen and her husband John, Bastrop, Texas; a sister, Trudie Mitchell, Mineral Wells, TX; grandchildren, Karry Quiett, Karis Chastain, Sherry Francis, D'Ann Ward, Ron Quiett, James Quiett, Bill Brewer, Brad Williamson, and Patty Williamson; twenty great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Mrs. Quiett was preceded in death by her husband, N. H. Quiett; two brothers, Clarence Lobstein and Edward Lobstein; two children, Ruby Joyce Quiett and Bobby Gene Quiett; and a granddaughter, Brenda Landers.

Bearers will be Karry Quiett, Ron Quiett, Brad Williamson, James Treas, Doc Bowen, and George Seaton.
