HOWARD O'DANIEL

ADA-Services for Howard Edward O'Daniel, 88, Ada, are 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 29, 2008, at the Criswell Chapel, Rev. Ken Wolf officiating. Burial follows at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Howard died Sunday, November 23, 2008 near Ada. He was born October 31, 1920, at Elmore City to Emmett Hern "Jack" and Pearl Moore O'Daniel. He moved to this area from Holdenville. He graduated from Maud High School and served in the U. S. Navy on the U.S.S. Savannah as 1st Class Petty Officer during WWII and owned a feed store and an OTASCO store in Maud. He later moved to Holdenville where he owned the Estes Motel and Ross Grocery. After moving to Ada he raised quarter horses and was an early member of American Quarter Horse Association and owned O'Daniel Dozer. Howard was a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church.

He married Theo Jean Passmore in 1942. She preceded him in death. He later married Opal Hailey on April 5, 1976 in Sasakwa.

Survivors include his wife, Opal O'Daniel, of the home; one son, Dan O'Daniel and wife Lola, Enid; two daughters, Brenda Hudson and husband Tommy, Sasakwa; and Wilba Peters, Sulphur; one brother, Curtis O'Daniel and wife Wanda, Maud; one sister, Billie Jean Watkins, Maud; a sister-in-law, Betty O'Daniel, Maud; ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Barbara Jean Kelley, a son, Richard Paul "Dickie" O'Daniel, and a brother, Ray O'Daniel.

Bearers will be Clint Hall, Donnie Cox, Chuck Lancaster, Bill Spencer, Don Kerr, and Don Bowers. Honorary bearers will be Norris Lillard, Gary Curry, Lyn Wood, Stanley Sawyers, and Dale Lindsey.
