Hershel Chronister
Graveside services for Hershel Glen Chronister, 78, of Fittstown will be held later at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
Mr. Chronister passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020 at his home. He was born October 3, 1941 at Harden City, OK to William Henry and Eva Eugene Reid Chronister. He lived in the Franks/Fittstown area all of his life. He received a GED and later received a Bachelor of Science Degree from East Central University.
He married Rose Marie Hernandez November 22, 1966 at Roff. Mr. Chronister worked for the Oklahoma Tax Commission for eight years and the Environmental Protection Agency in Ada as a financial manager until his retirement. He retired from the U. S. Marine Corps as a Captain after serving 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie, of the home; his children, Lisa Marie Chronister-Mooney and husband Aaron, William Henry Chronister, III and Mark Scott Chronister; his granddaughter, London Chronister; two grandsons, Jack Chronister and Eli Mooney; a brother, Richard Chronister; and a sister, Viola Ragland; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lonnie Chronister, Robert Chronister and Gene Chronister; and four sisters, Florence Pied, Pat Nunley, Bonnie Harbin and Lorene Files.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Cancer Research, 825 NE 13 th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104-5097.
