Herbert Zehender

A private family service will be held at a later date for Herbert Zehender, 75, of Ada, OK who passed away on December 16, 2024.

Herbert was born on January 17, 1949 in Stuttgart, Germany to Charlotte Roecker of Stuttgart and JD "Buster" Hendrix of Choctaw, OK.  Herbert was adopted by his step-father, Hermann Zehender in 1961. He came to Oklahoma in 1970 after graduating from Stuttgart University.

Herbert worked at Solo Cup Company in Ada as the Maintenance Supervisor for 27 years before moving to Oklahoma City to take an engineering management position at Unit Parts. He returned to Ada when he retired in 2008.

Herbert was a member of the Ada Elks Lodge and the Tupelo Volunteer Fire Department.

Herbert loved working on cars and spending time with family and his closest friends, Harris and Donna Jo Zachary of Ada. He was dubbed "Uncle Herb" by the Zachary kids: Becky Zachary, Jennifer Robison and Mike Zachary of Ada.

Herbert is survived by his two daughters, Kristin McKelroy of Cleveland, OK and Andrea Johnston of Oklahoma City, OK; two granddaughters, Taylor Johnston of Moore, OK and Avery Smith of Oklahoma City, OK; as well as his beloved cat Moe, who spent 14 years at his side.
