HERBERT BRINLEE
ADA-Services for Herbert Clayton Brinlee, 87, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Morris Memorial Baptist Church, Rev. Michael Calhoun will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Brinlee died Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the Veterans Center in Ardmore. He was born November 11, 1922 at Phillips, Oklahoma to David Burl and Dovie Whitacher Brinlee. He attended Roff High School until he was inducted into the U. S. Army in 1942. He was assigned to the 119th Armored Engineer Battalion. He served in the U. S., England, France and Germany and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in the performance of duty. He received the Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theatre Ribbon, Two Bronze Service Stars, a World War II Victory Ribbon and the American Theatre Ribbon.
He married Meta June Brookshire on June 17, 1943 in Ada. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2003. They were married for 60 years. Mr. Brinlee worked for Ideal Cement, now Holcim, Inc. as a Control Room Operator, for 40 years and was never late for work or missed a day of work. He was a member and Deacon of Morris Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Judith Brinlee, Ada; three grandsons, Shane Brinlee and wife Tina, Allen, Bart Brinlee and wife Christy, Eufaula, and Clay Brinlee of Ada; seven great grandchildren, Bryce, Olivia, Cain, Sydney, Chloe, Kody and Katon; one sister, Elsie Burnshire, of Pryor.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his only son, Ronald E. Brinlee on March 30, 2004; a great grandson, Hagen Carlyle Brinlee; his parents; and two brothers, Dewey and Jess Brinlee.
Bearers will be his three grandsons, Shane Brinlee, Bart Brinlee and Clay Brinlee and a great grandson, Cain Brinlee, also Bob Jeter and Stan Cochran. Honorary bearers wll be Haskell Harrison, Bill Osborn, Marvin Byers, Lee Swanson, Jim Jackson, James Abbott, Elzie Priest and Chris Flowers.
