HELEN CANADA
ADA-Services for Helen O. Canada, 89, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Willie White will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Francis.
Mrs. Canada died Monday, June 7, 2010 at a local nursing home. She was born August 16, 1920 in the Denney Community to Fred and Mary Jane Henson Matthews. She lived in the Francis area all her life and attended Francis area schools.
She married Harvern O. Canada on July 23, 1938. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2005. Mrs. Canada was a cook at the Francis Café for many years until her retirement.
Survivors include four sons, Curtis Canada and wife Nancy, Galey, Howard Canada and wife Pat, Springfield, MO, Ronnie Canada and wife Vickie, Francis, and Marty Canada and wife Teresa, Francis; four sisters, Hazel Phillips, Francis, Letha Linebarger, Francis, and Eva Lois Picking, Salina, KS, and Wanda Vititow, Sulphur Springs, TX; and 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchilden.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Whetstine; brothers, Raymond Matthews, Leonard Matthews, Harold Matthews, and Earnest Matthews; and a sister, Dorothy Matthews.
Bearers will be James Canada, Jon Canada, Jason Canada, Justin Canada, Clayton Canada and Brian Canada.
