Harold Gene Muse

Memorial services for Harold Gene Muse will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the First Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m.; Rev. Brian Matthews will officiate.

Harold was born May 29, 1940, in Paris, Lamar County, Texas, to Clyde C. and Flora J. Newton Muse. He passed from this world on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the age of 84.

His early years were spent on a farm in Tolbert, Texas, where he went to school in a two-room schoolhouse and worked on the farm. He served his country in the 245th Tank Battalion, 45th Infantry Division of the Oklahoma National Guard as a tank driver, and then joined the U.S. Navy as a radioman aboard The USS Midway.

In 1975, he began a 27 year career with Ideal Cement and The Ada Cement Plant as a Control Room Operator. In March of that same year, he married Gloria Todd, and they spent 50 wonderful years together raising two amazing sons. They were faithful members of both First Methodist and Asbury United Methodist Churches, where they served on various boards and helped in many ways, including the food pantry in recent years. They made many mission trips to Central and South American countries, of Bolivia, Peru, Guatemala, El Salvador and Panama.

Harold and Gloria were big supporters of the Ada School system in any way they could be. They were volunteers for Oklahoma Special Olympics, serving as Area Coordinators with local events and the state games every summer for 28 years. After retirement in 2002, he continued as a substitute teacher and watched his grandchildren go through the system. He was a member of Ada Community Theater and acted in several Dinner Theater Plays.

Harold loved his family, golf and baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria, two sons, David and wife Mildred and Travis and wife Ginny, all of Ada, grandchildren: Jason, Brandon, Dusten, Amanda, Cassie, Ben, John David, Michael and Anna Beth along with many special nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Troy of Texas; sister, Joann of Oklahoma City; sister, Joyce of Texas; and grandson, Brandon.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either American Cancer Society, Oklahoma Special Olympics, Asbury UMC's Food Pantry, or First Methodist Church's Missions.
