ALLEN-Services for Harold Marler, 85, Allen are 2:00 P.M. Friday at Allen First Baptist Church, Revs. Chad Kaminski and Joe Howry officiating. Burial follows at Allen Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Criswell Chapel in Allen from 4:00 p.m. Thursday until service time.
Mr. Marler died Monday, September 14, 2009 at a Norman hospital. He was born April 28, 1924, in Seminole to Claude Franklin and Ruby Edwards Marler. He moved to this area in 1932 and attended school at Black Rock, Francis, and Allen, graduating from Allen High School. He served in the U. S. Army 37th Infantry Division and worked as a dirt contractor, in oil field construction and was a cattle rancher. He served in the Masonic Lodge at Allen, serving three times as Most Worshipful Master and was a Baptist.
He married Alfreda Georgene Stout on March 9, 1950, in Ada.
Survivors include his wife, Alfreda Marler, of the home; a son, Philip Marler and wife Leura, Purcell; two grandsons, Bret Marler, Ardmore and Kirk Marler, Norman; two brothers, Howard Marler, Oklahoma City, and James Marler, Stillwater; and a sister-in-law, Louise Pogue, Ada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Ruby Marler; a brother, Gilbert Marler; and mother-in-law, Vesta Stout.
Bearers are Tommy Peay, H. C. Spain, Donnie Pipkin, Wayne Layell, Jimmy Nix, and Chad Nix. Honorary bearers are members of the Masonic Lodge of Allen.
