HARMON MAYES
STONEWALL-Services for Harmon Arthur Mayes, 76, Stonewall, are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Ray Talbott will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Stonewall.
Mr. Mayes died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at a local hospital. He was born May 15, 1932 at Jesse, south of Stonewall, Oklahoma to Walter Louie and Dorena Ayakatubby Mayes. He attended Jesse and Stonewall schools and graduated from Stonewall High School.
He married Florence Ellen Coffman on May 20, 1988. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2005. Mr. Mayes was a steel worker in Arkansas and Baytown, Texas, and later a Prison Guard in Huntsville, Texas. He was of the Baptist faith and had served in the U. S. Air Corps from 1950 until 1970.
Survivors include three daughters, Beatrice Olney, Pasadena, Texas, Rita Breedlove, Stonewall, and Berna Yott, Tulsa; two sons, Eusebio Davilla, Colchester, Illinois, and Harmon A. Mayes, Jr., Stonewall; one sister, Mary Stanford, Ada; eleven grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and a step-grandson whom he reared, Chad McFarland, Ada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Yolanda Schafer on November 12, 2006; a son, Nathan Eric Mayes on August 14, 1983; a grandson, Matthew David Olney on August 23, 1990; and a sister, Lillie Willson.
Bearers will be Harmon Mayes, Jr., Eusevio Davilla, Tim Large, Steve Rolen, Ronnie Rolen, and John Hidelburg.
