Gwen Gjovig

Memorial services for Gwen Gjovig, 75, of Ada, are Friday, May 22, 2026 at 2:00pm at the Central Church of Christ in Ada; Derrick Tharp will officiate.

Mrs. Gjovig passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at her home. She was born June 15, 1950, in El Paso, TX, to Winston Petway and Billie Jean Robinson Rice.

On October 2, 1970 she married Russell Gjovig.

Mrs. Gjovig was deeply passionate about her work through CASA, where she faithfully served as a protector and advocate for children. She dedicated herself to helping those who needed a voice, and her compassion touched countless lives. Her servant’s heart and tireless commitment to others will never be forgotten.

She found joy in trail riding and had a deep love for horses and the peace found outdoors. Some of her happiest moments were spent with family, whether gathered around the table for one of her home-cooked meals or sharing stories and laughter together. Her creativity shined in everything she did, and she had a special gift for making people feel cared for and welcomed.

Those who knew her will remember her as loving, strong, generous, and deeply devoted to the people she cared about. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.

Survivors include her husband, Russell, of the home; two sons, Ryan Gjovig and wife, Eun-Kyung, of South Korea and Erik Gjovig and wife, Samantha, of Ada; brother, Win Rice and wife, Linda, of Clarita, OK; and three grandchildren, Savannah Eberhard, of Overland Park, KS, Juno Gjovig, of South Korea, and Emery Clark, of Ada.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Tim Rice.

The family requests those who wish may make memorial donations to CASA or Care Cottage, 22nd Judicial District CASA, 514 East 10th Street, Ada, OK 74820.
