GREGORY GRANT
SASAKWA-Services for Gregory James Grant, 56, longtime resident of the Sasakwa area, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Philemon Missionary Baptist Church in Ada. Pastor Houston Tiger and Rev. Willie Guient will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. A Wake Service will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Grant died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at an Ada hospital. He was born March 4, 1956 in Ada, Oklahoma to Cornelius and Amanda Lee (Mandy) Williams Grant. He grew up in Santa Barbara, California, attended Santa Barbara and Port Huenme schools and graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1973 where he broke CIF Track and Field records and was an All State and All Conference CIF Football player. He also attended Santa Barbara City College and Vo-Tech for mechanic engineer.
Greg loved to work on cars, enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and loved the wildlife. He was a "jack of all trades". He loved being around his family and friends. He would help anyone who needed his help at any time. He loved to watch his grandsons play football and his granddaughters play softball. Mr. Grant was employed as a grader operator with Seminole County.
He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Jan Warrior, son Amari White and wife Titania of Seminole; his two daughters, Charmaine Grant Bruner and husband Mike of Ardmore, and Nicole Grant of Ontario, CA; his mother, Mandy Lee Grant, Ada; seven grandchildren, Sefuan (Papi), Deja, Malayja, Michael Jr. (Bug), Angelina, Daniel, and Xavier; six sisters and one brother, Ida Pointer-Gomez, Carpentaria, CA, Susan Grant, Ada, Sandra Grant, Oklahoma City, Doris Grant, Carpentaria, CA, Mary Grant, Oklahoma City, Jackie Grant, Oklahoma City, and Charles Grant, Ada; an uncle, Walter Grant, Ada; 33 nephews and nieces; 60 great-nephews and nieces; 12 great-great nephews and nieces; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, his sister, and great nephew, Cornelius Grant in 1999, Charlene Grant in 1995, and Isiah McCullar in 1994.
Bearers will be all his grandsons and nephews. Honorary bearers will be Mike Bruner, Lee Shamburger, Wayne Hopper, Dewayne Bundy, David Osborn, Floyd Osborn, Cubby, Manuel Callahan, Pete Callahan, Russell Warrior, Wallace Phurnan, Charles Grant, Eugene Osborn, Eugene "Peanut" Pointer, Glen Pickens, Shannon Akins, Leon Daniels, Gus Williams, and Frazier Williams.
