GLEN CHILDERS
ADA-Memorial services for Glen Floyd Childers, 76, of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Childers died Monday, June 24, 2013 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born June 6, 1937 near Konawa, Oklahoma to Floyd and Alliene James Childers. He graduated from Ada High School in 1955 and from East Central University in 1962.
He married Betty Skinner on August 14, 1964. Mr. Childers was an architect with James and Childers Architects and later was a founding partner in Childers and Childers Architects in 1978. His brother, Don Childers joined the firm in 1983.
Mr. Childers was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He was a former board member of the Ada Chamber of Commerce, and was co-chair with Neal Satterfield for Forward Ada. Mr. Childers was a real estate developer, was named an Outstanding Young Oklahoman in 1972 and was a licensed pilot. He was also a member of the ECU Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Childers, of the home; two daughters, Cara Childers and her fiancé, Jeff Waters of Ada, and Amy Elliott and her husband Tim of Ada; a brother, Don Childers and his wife Annette of Ada; a sister, Linda Wells of Ada; and five grandchildren, Maximillian Elliott, Dexter Elliott, Evangeline Elliott, Mekenzie Rockey and Zoe Rockey and their father, Richard Rockey.
