GLADYS LAXTON
ADA-Graveside services for Glayds F. Laxton, 69, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Swan Hill Cemetery. Rev. Glen Eaves will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Laxton died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at her home near Roff. She was born February 6, 1939 in Coal County, Oklahoma to James Oliver and Lorena Gladys Lee Brown. She graduated from Olney High School in 1956.
She married Lewis Laxton on May 31, 1956 in Ada. Mrs. Laxton was a homemaker and a secretary at Vanoss School from 1975 until 2006, retiring after 31 years of service.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Laxton, of the home; a son, Dewayne Laxton and wife Jaye, Ada; a daughter, Danna Laxton, Ada; four grandchildren, Tyler Laxton, serving in the U. S. Navy in Japan and his wife Lindsey, Ada, Brad Laxton and wife Jeannie, U. S. Coast Guard, Port Angeles, Washington, Mason Laxton, Ada, and Cason Laxton, Ada; three great grandchildren, Lexi Dalton, Ada, Jacob Laxton, Ada, and Gavin Laxton, Washington; nieces and nephews, Gerry and Wanda Laxton, Sulphur, Cheryl and Dennis Jordan, Arkansas, Ronnie and Janet Brown, Arkansas, and Larry and Cheryl Brown, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Oliver Brown and Lorena Gladys Lee Brown, and a brother, James "Babe" Brown.
Bearers will be Jupie Booth, Lloyd Burk, Jr., David Cavaco, Bobby Claborn, Bobby Freeman, Jimmy D. Freeman, and G. C. Scoggins. Honorary bearers will be Dena Willoughby Anderson, Bobbi Jo Passmore Ardrey, Sandra Claborn, Carla Miller Henry, Vickie Willoughby Holt, Dawn "Dee Dee" Silagy Morrison, Robin Wood Rose, and Terri Ashley Wood.
