Gertraude "Trudy" Boland

Services for Gertraude Meta "Trudy" Boland, 88, of Tupelo, OK are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Tupelo Baptist Church, Rev. Craig Cochran will officiate. Burial will follow at the Centrahoma Cemetery.

Mrs. Boland passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at a Guthrie nursing home. She was born December 6, 1928 at Berlin, Germany to Alfred Pohl and Gertrude Stein. She attended school in Germany, lived on multiple Army posts, moved to Tupelo in 1970 and to West Point, NE in 2008.

She married Rev. W. B. "Dub" Boland June 18, 1982. He preceded her in death September 15, 2001. Mrs. Boland retired from the Tupelo School System after 11 years of service. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Ada, a lifetime member of the Oklahoma Education Association and the National Education Association.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel Hughes (Jlynn) of West Point, NE; Patrick Hughes ( Peggy) of Guthrie; a daughter, The Honorable Rena Hughes of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, Angela, Annalise, Arielle, Aaron, Hayley and Allison; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter, Abigail Hughes; and a sister, Erika Pistor.

Pall bearers will be Daniel Hughes, Patrick Hughes, Aaron Hughes, Josh King, Robert Palmer and Ray Norfleet.
