ADA-Services for Geraldine Factor Greenwood, 81, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2007, at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Jerry Imotichy will officiate. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Family Cemetery at Fillmore, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Greenwood died Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at a Norman hospital. She was born August 30, 1926 at Wapanucka, Oklahoma to McCurtin and Annie Holden Factor. She graduated from Carter Seminary and East Central University with a Master's degree in Education.
She married Virgil Greenwood in Denison, Texas. He died December 5, 1991 at Ada, Oklahoma. Mrs. Greenwood was a retired educator and counselor. Previously, she taught at East Central University, Murray State College, the University of Central Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma. She was of the Baptist faith, an inductee in the Chickasaw Hall of Fame and a member of the Chickasaw Language Committee. She was honored as the "Original Dynamic Woman" of the Chickasaw Nation, and was a fluent speaker of the Chickasaw language.
Survivors include two sons, Leon V. Greenwood, of the home, and Dewayne Greenwood, Blanchard; seven daughters, Pat Greenwood Cox, Ada, Lou Greenwood Boston, Ada, Georgie Frazier, Ada, Linda Greenwood, Pine Ridge, South Dakota, Carolyn Mendoza, Oklahoma City, Evelyn Battiest, Coalgate, and Dianne Catron, Tishomingo; her adopted sons, Brad Greenwood, Norman, and Ric Greenwood, Norman; twenty-one grandchildren; and twenty-five great grandchildren.
Bearers will be Scott Colbert, Stanley Factor, Tony Choate, Palmer Mosley V, Malcom Smith, Colby Laymon, and Sam Greenwood. Honorary bearers will be the Chickasaw Governor, Bill Anoatubby, and Lt. Governor, Jefferson Keel.
