GERALD PHILPOT
ADA-Memorial services for Gerald Olton Philpot, 78, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church, the Rev. John D. Norvell will officiate.
Mr. Philpot died Friday, September 28, 2007 at his home. He was born January 28, 1929 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Barney J. and Veulah "Polly" Meeks Philpot. He came to Ada as an infant. He attended Ada schools and graduated from Ada High School.
He married Beth Ward on December 26, 1971. Mr. Philpot was the owner and operator of a construction company, working on state highways, streets and parking lots for over 40 years. He retired in 1982. He was instrumental in providing the Philpot Track at Norris Field and the initial construction of the Parish Hall at St. Luke's Episcopal Church where he was a member. His stewardship affected many individuals and institutions in Ada.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Philpot, of the home; a step-daughter, Kelly Ebeling and husband David Howard, Healdsburg, California; two grandsons, Clay and Will Howard; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sid and Flo Ward, Moore, Steve and Maris Ward, Alva, and Terry and Diana Ward, Oklahoma City.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Building Fund at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, P. O. Box B, Ada, OK 74821.
