JERRY CRISP
KONAWA-Services for Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Crisp, 80, Konawa, are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery. The Tinker Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Crisp died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at a Sulphur Veterans Center. He was born October 27, 1929 at Vanoss, Oklahoma to Jewel Edward "Jay" Crisp and Eleanor Pauline Ingram Crisp. He attended Vanoss and Byars school.
He married Alice Wallgren on March 3, 1952 in Oklahoma City. Mr. Crisp retired as a Master Sergeant with the U. S. Air Force serving from 1948 until May 1969 during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed in Japan, Korea, Tennessee, Ardmore, Oklahoma, Washington, D.C., Michigan, Colorado, Greenland, Okinawa, Vietnam and retired at Tinker AFB. He spent the last half of his career attached to the Air Force's Office of Special Investigation. After he retired from the military, he was employed with the Commercial Credit Corp. in Oklahoma City and Ardmore, later, he was the Vice-President and Branch Manager for Citizens National Bank in Ardmore. From 1989 until retiring in 1994, he served as the Vice President at BancFirst in Konawa. Mr. Crisp was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Crisp, of the home; a son, David Crisp and wife Earlene, Ada; a daughter, Alicia Smith and husband Ted, Ada; four grandsons, Jeffrey Crisp, Sulphur, Conner Smith, Ada, Matt Smith and wife Emily, Oklahoma City, and John Smith and wife Makensy, Piedmont; a great granddaughter, Layne Smith, Piedmont; one sister, Betty Fanto, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; and two brothers, Donald Crisp, Gaar Corner and Floyd Davis Crisp, Stratford; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father, Jewel "Jay" Crisp; his mother and step-father, Eleanor and Houston Unsell; and two step-brothers, Louis Unsell and Dewey Unsell.
Bearers will be Conner Smith, Matt Smith, John Smith, Jeffrey Crisp,Mike Pippenger and John Paul Townsend. Honorary bearer will be Bill Vann.
