GEORGE POWELL

ADA-Services for George Washington Powell, 82, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Oil Center Pentecostal Holiness Church, Rev. Earl Blankenship will officiate. Burial will follow at Maxwell Cemetery.

Mr. Powell died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at his home. He was born February 22, 1927 at Beebe, Oklahoma to Charlie and Effie Archer Powell. He attended Egypt schools.

He married Doris E. Powell. Mr. Powell was a carpenter and was affiliated with the Maxwell and Galey Holiness Churches. He served in the U. S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Powell, of the home; two daughters, Theisa L. Cabo, Ada and Elizabeth Whitwell and husband Lewis, Pickett; a step-daughter, Dianne E. Privett, Conway, MO; one son, Douglas E. Powell and wife Chrystal, Ada; a brother, Charles Powell and wife Jean, Chickasha; one step-sister, Vera Malone, Midwest City; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bearers will be Willie Smith, Robbie Smith, Brandon Miller, Daniel Willis, Logan Spencer, and Kelly Whitwell. Honorary bearers will be Mike Wegrzyn, Jayson Spencer, Lewis Whitwell, Charles Coplen, Wayne Willoughby, and Ricky Allen.
