Pete passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024 at the farm in Fitzhugh Oklahoma. He was born August 24, 1929 in Thomas, Oklahoma to George Douglas Peters Sr. and Chloe Dovie (Fussell/Peters) Pattillo.
Pete attended Fitzhugh High School where he first met Barbara Jean "Bobby" Sullivan. After high school Pete joined the Army and was a proud Korean era Veteran and served 2 years in Germany. After his return he married Bobby on June 27, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Fitzhugh, Oklahoma.
Pete and Bobby moved to Amarillo, Texas where he started a 16-year career with Burlington Northern Railroad. While in Amarillo they welcomed two daughters, Terrye Jean and Perrye Gail.
After leaving the railroad he worked for the US Department of Agriculture first as a meat inspector and later as an investigator. During his time with the USDA Pete and Bobby lived in Dallas, Texas, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and finally returning to Oklahoma.
Pete and Bobby retired to the Fitzhugh area where they built their home and started raising cattle. Never one to be idle he got his real estate licenses and began selling real estate. In addition, he and Bobby would do various wood crafts which they sold at craft shows in Texas and Oklahoma. After he stopped raising cattle, he started creating Intarsia woodwork which he loved to share with family. For fun he enjoyed playing golf, playing card games with family, but he hated losing, and reading his very large collection of Western novels.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Barbara, daughters, Terrye (Doug) Enderle and Perrye Peters; grandchildren, Amber Enderle, Katherine (Todd) Marxsen, Jonathan Bonatti, and Christian (Kim) Bonatti, great grandchildren, Adelyn, Lucas, Ben and Jaxson, his sister-in-law, Jody (Sullivan) Green, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Harold Eugene Peters, and his grandson, Christopher Jason Enderle.
